About the Event
Jenny Sturgeon
We're big fans of Scottish singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and sound artist Jenny Sturgeon at Hilltop Live. She's performed a few times for us with the amazing trio Salt House, and we're delighed to have her peform a set of her solo work. Her music combines field recordings with sonic and lyrical imagery which is bound together by common threads of nature, folklore and the connection people have with the landscape. In addition to Salt House, Jenny's musical collaborations include writing and performing in the bird and kitchen-disco inspired band Birdvox and in Outliers with Boo Hewerdine.
The Living Mountain performance is inspired by Nan Shepherd's celebrated book of the same name. The project was devised and created by Jenny Sturgeon and explores Nan's writing, the Cairngorm mountain range and human connections with the wild through lyrical, melodic and visual interpretation.
